The Production of Fatigue features a printing tool and a versatile collection of printed outcomes for various applications.
This analogue and hand-powered printing tool replicates the movements of a basic printer with a back and forth linear and mechanical motion. It acts as a metaphor of human fatigue : exhaustion also occurs in the thing we surround ourselves with and from which we expect the same capacity to perform. My work aims to resonate within our own experience of fatigue as humans and workers. Pressure and repetition trigger fatigue, but also trigger creativity.
Depending on the surface the printing-method is applied on, an always surprising and subtle variety of color and pattern nuances emerges. As a first exploration, this handmade process was developed for the tile industry : a great platform to show the possibility of distinction and subtleties in mass produced standard pieces.
