A PART OF IT
- WHAT REMAINS FROM A JOURNEY TO THE ISLAND OF FIRE
Fire is a fascinating element : we strongly feel it but are not able to touch it.
In relation to fire, plaster is a peculiar material. Peculiar because plaster does not burn, allowing a closer relation to fire by witnessing its creative properties.
A part of it aims not only to materialize what remains from fire, but also what remains from a journey to the Vuurtoren Island.
The Vuurtoren island is still a work in progress, a development in which each visitor’s presence contributes to the building of the place. As experienced by myself and observed in others, the Vuurtoren island is an experience you are proud to be part of.
A part of it is a souvenir meant to embody and symbolize this experience.
It is a tile you place in fire. You will see a unique print scorch itself onto the surface and the way you interact with the flames will shape the outcome. From this new relation to fire a personal signature emerges. A part of it does not only materialize what remains from fire, but also from your journey.
This souvenir invites you to leave a trace of your journey there, and bring home a small piece of it.
The growing mosaic in which you contribute shapes the feeling that remains from the Island : being part of something.
