Léa Mazy is a French designer currently based in the Netherlands.
She specializes in concept development, visual storytelling and communication, brand identity, materiality, set design and curation.
After studying visual communication and product design in Paris, Léa pursued her education at the Design Academy Eindhoven from which she graduated in 2018. Combining both an academic and hands-on approach specific to her double education, her design practice is balanced between a strong sense of observation and analysis paired with a creative experimental approach.
Her work is characterized by a close interest for matters which are overlooked, unspoken, discarded or taken for granted. Convinced that potential lays anywhere for whoever is willing to see it, Léa is extremely attentive to her surroundings and developed a sharp eye driven by the urge of revealing the unseen. In her practice, she expresses it through a personal approach towards material experiment : she believes that materials have more to offer than their already known properties, giving them space but also frames to reveal their secrets, allowing them to stretch their limits and believing in their unnoticed abilities.
Today, this passion for matter and the yet invisible is in the heart of her process.
Her graduation project The Production of Fatigue is the first chapter of an on-going research on machine performances and what is perceived as faulty production means. With the hope to challenge various industries to innovative visions, Léa’s research aims to spot new possibilities and potentialities in existing production processes.
